Pearl Harbor Remembrance: Revealing Historical Photos of the December 7, 1941 Attack in Hawaii

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed on December 7th each year to commemorate the horrific attack on the United States naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii that took place on that day in 1941. The attack, conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy, was a surprise assault that brought the United States into World War II.  In the early hours of December 7th, 1941, a fleet of 353 Japanese fighter planes, bombers, and torpedo planes launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. 188 aircraft and 21 ships were destroyed during the two-hour attack, which claimed 2,403 American lives, including civilian ones. Key events in American history included the attack on Pearl Harbor. America joined World War II as a result of it, uniting the nation against a common foe.
